At a grand Felicitation Function organized by Newspapers Trust of India in memory of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee here today, Renowned literary personality and a powerful signature in the world of Hindi Literature, Pandit Hari Om Sharma ‘Hari’, State President, UP Zila Manyata Prapt Patrakar Association, was honored and awarded the ‘Atal Ratna Samman’ by the Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri Hriday Narayan Dixit.

On this occasion, Shri Hriday Narayan Dixit was presented to the memento. Distinguished personalities in the field of journalism viz Shri Hemant Tiwari, Shri Shiv Sharan Singh, Shri Suresh Bahadur Singh, Dr. Sultan Shakir Hashmi,  Pt. Hari Om Sharma ‘Hari’, Shri Vir Bahadur Vikram Mishra, Shri Siddharth Kalhans, Shri Pradeep Kapoor, Shri T. B. Singh, Shri S. M. Pari, Shir Azeez Siddiqui, Shir Afroz Rizvi, Shri Syed Asif Raja Jafri, and Shri Virendra Singh were also honored and felicitated in this grand function organized in Rajarshi Purshottam Das Tandon Hall of the U.P. Vidhan Sabha. On this occasion, senior officials and workers of the UP Legislative Secretariat were also felicitated.

In his address, the Chief Guest Shri Hriday Narayan Dixit, Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha said that Atalji was an advocate of peace and harmony in society. Further, he said I firmly believe that this Honouring Ceremony will create an awareness in the minds of every citizen and inspire him towards creativity and perfection in life. Speaking with the press personnel, the ‘Atal Ratna Samman’ awardee, Pandit Hari Om Sharma ‘Hari’ said that he was experiencing immense delight and happiness in receiving this award which was a real tribute to his writings. During the past forty years of his literary writing, he has been the proud recipient of several honors and awards. However this Atal Ratna Samman was the crowning glory in recognition of his honest and humble work and he feels greatly honored today. After receiving this award, it becomes his added moral and social responsibility to devote his writing for the uplift and benefit of society. Chairman of the Newspapers Trust of India, Shri Nazam Ahsan said that this programme will touch the hearts of people and spread the noble ideals of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in every sector of society. On this occasion, the Mahamantri, U.P. Zila Manyata Prapt Patrakar Association Shri Abdul Waheed, Secretary, Shri Zubair Ahmed and other staff members of the Association and senior journalists Shri Avinash Shukla, Shir Neeraj Srivastava, and Shri Shekhar Srivastava were also felicitated.

Mr. Rajendra Chaurasia, Private Secretary of Shri Hari Om Sharma ‘Hari’ informed that to date, Shri Sharma has authored 19 books, and even now, he is thinking of new ideas and his pen is still active. His books have been best sellers and have received high acclaim not only in India but also abroad. Among the various titles and awards bestowed upon Pandit Hari Om Sharma for his contribution to literature and society at large are Patrakar Gaurav Samman, Sahitya Manishi Samman, Saagarika Samman, Sahitya Sagar Samman, Prakriti Ratna Samman, Sahitya Ratna Samman, Sahitya Shree Samman, Shabd Shree Samman, Saraswat Samman, Sahitya Bhushan Samman, Srijan Samman, Gulab Rai Sarjana Puraskar of Hindi Sansthan, Uttar Pradesh, etc.
