As India gears up to celebrate its 74th Independence Day celebrations, the Ministry of Tourism’s Dekho Apna Desh Webinar Series presented a webinar titled ‘Lesser-known stories of India’s struggle against the British’ on 12th August 2020. 

The 47th in the series of Dekho Apna Desh webinars, the “Lesser-known stories of India’s struggle against the British’ was presented by Ms. Akila Raman and Ms. Nayantara Nayar. They both represent a company called Storytrails, an organization that designs story-based walking tours, audio tours, local experiences, and learning programmes for children and adults. Their stories showcase the history, culture and way of life in India.  On this webinar, their presenters took us through the lesser-known stories of India’s struggle against the British. Dekho Apna Desh Webinar Series is an effort to showcase India’s rich diversity under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

Today’s webinar covered the following: –

1) Sivaganga- Velu Nachiar
2) Mumbai- Benjamin Horniman
3) Institutions to Control India
a) Judiciary
b) Railways
c) Armed Forces
d) English Education in British India
4) Madurai- Masi street

The webinar is going to be a good source of information for school students; hence schools should register for the webinar and share it with the students. Otherwise, the school should request the parents o guardians to register for the webinar and watch it with their children.

Ms. Rupinder Brar in her concluding remarks spoke about the Ministry of Tourism’s Incredible India Tourist facilitator certification programme which will enable citizens to learn online, and become a Certified facilitator that will give them the opportunity to showcase our beautiful Country. This will further empower them to be responsible and do their rights and duties properly.

The Dekho Apna Desh Webinar Series is presented in technical partnership with the National e-Governance Department, Ministry of Electronics, and Information Technology.
