In a matter of pride for the city, Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, Founder-Manager of City Montessori School, Lucknow, has been awarded High Commendation for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to the (Education) Industry’ at global PIEoneer Awards 2021.

At a glittering ceremony held on 3rd September at London UK, the Jury “Highly Commended” and highlighted Dr. Jagdish Gandhi’s lifelong commitment to reimagining education as a vehicle for world unity and peace.

With six shortlisted finalists from across the globe, Dr. Gandhi’s award affirms his standing as a proven global leader in the field of international education.

The PIEoneer Awards, since their inception in 2017, have celebrated true innovation and achievement in the field of global education.

For 62 years, Dr. Gandhi has spearheaded the idea that education must broaden students’ perspectives and develop a global vision in them.

Adopting the motto of ‘Jai Jagat,’ he championed a vision of education that nurtures students to not only excel academically but also to become globally aware, empathetic world citizens.

Today the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals include ‘global citizenship education as part of the Education Goal (Goal 4), and India’s National Education Policy 2020 (paras 4.24, 6.20 and 11.8) also includes ‘global citizenship education as an important plank for school education in India.

Expressing gratitude for the award, Dr. Gandhi said, “In this increasingly interconnected world, the implementation of global citizenship education and global competency programmes in schools has become indispensable, if we are to find enduring solutions to problems such as climate change, armed conflicts, and extreme inequality”.
