Teacher Couple from Pithoragarh understands the importance of planting trees, hence have started a new campaign on 14th January 2021.
During this pandemic, we have come to know about many individuals and couples who have helped society to fight the CORONA virus in one way or the other. One such couple is from the Pithoragarh, the easternmost district of Uttarakhand.
Shri. Rajesh Mohan Upreti and his wife Smt. Usha Upreti made masks during the lockdown and distributed them among the CORONA fighters and others. The duo has recently started a new campaign to plant fruit trees. On 14th January they have planned 25 walnut trees in the Kaushalya Devi forest adjacent to their village. Under this campaign in the time to come, they endeavor to plant more and more trees in the forest like walnut, peaches, apricots, etc.
Importance of planting trees:
The couple is also trying to motivate the locals to join this campaign and plant fruit trees in the forests. Mr. Upreti said that this has manifold benefits like people will get seasonal fruits, they can sell these in the local market, etc. He also believes that through this campaign, we will be able to save the traditional species of trees found in that area.
The efforts of the duo are being appreciated by the locals and especially by their colleagues. Shri Anuj Kumar Srivastava, Principal of Government Inter College, Devalthal (a small town almost 20 km from Pithoragarh main market) has applauded this campaign and the efforts. He said Upreti Sir not only focuses on education but also helps the students in the overall growth by counseling them. He said that the Earth gives us a lot however we can return the favor in a very small fraction by planting more and more trees.
Shri Upreti for his contribution to the education sector was awarded by Rashtrapati Purushkar in the year 2012. He has also written books like ‘धरोहर’, ‘शाहिद ऐ वतन’, and a few more.
At last, for the duo, we can say ‘Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions.’
