What is the World Space Week?

This is an international event organized to celebrate the contribution of science and technology, especially to the betterment of the human condition.

It was in the year 1999, that the United Nations General Assembly declared that World Space Week will be held each year from October 4-10. These dates were to celebrate two big events:

  1. October 4, 1957: Launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, thus opening the way for space exploration
  2. October 10, 1967: The signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies.

So we will request our readers to encourage the eligible school students to participate in the online space quiz.
