Retinal Surgeon From Army Conferred With Sena Medal

Renowned Retinal Surgeon Colonel (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Mishra has been conferred with Bar to Sena Medal (Distinguished) by the Hon’ble President of India on the eve of 26 Jan 2021.  Colonel (Dr.) Sanjay Mishra is the highest decorated doctor in the history of Armed Forces Medical services, this being his fourth Presidential award. He has earlier awarded Sena Medal and Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM). He is currently Head of the Eye Department of the Prestigious Army Hospital (R&R) Delhi.

Colonel (Dr.)  Sanjay Kumar Mishra is an alumnus of AFMC Pune and completed his super-specialty in Vitreo Retinal surgery from AIIMS New Delhi. Dr. Sanjay Mishra hails from Mau, Uttar Pradesh, and completed his schooling from Prayagraj UP. Col Sanjay Mishra during his tenure at Command Hospital Lucknow established the state of Art Retinal Centre in 2018, catering to patients from various states. He has performed many complex surgeries at Command Hospital Lucknow during his tenure in this Hospital.

The President has approved awards of 455 Gallantry and other Defence decorations to Armed Forces personnel and others on the eve of 72nd Republic Day celebrations.
