If you are a student or a teaching staff then you should definitely know about SWAYAM PRABHA, an initiative of the Govt. Of India to help those who do not have internet access. It is an educational initiative with a group of channels (currently 32) telecasting high-quality educational content 24 X 7, using GSAT-15 satellite.
There are many educational institutions like NCERT, NPTEL, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, Ignou, QEEE, etc. are the partners and contributors to the programme.
The channel broadcasts new content each day and is repeated throughout the day to supporting the students and teaching staff to choose the time as per their convenience and feasibility. The channels are available for free to air, and you can ask your DTH service provider if not active in your account.
The DTH Channels shall cover the following:
- Higher Education: Curriculum-based course contents at a post-graduate and under-graduate level covering diverse disciplines such as arts, science, commerce, performing arts, social sciences, and humanities, engineering, technology, law, medicine, agriculture, etc.
- School education (9-12 levels): modules for teacher’s training as well as teaching and learning aids for children of India to help them understand the subjects better and also help them in preparing for competitive examinations for admissions to professional degree programmes.
- Curriculum-based courses that can meet the needs of life-long learners of Indian citizens in India and abroad.
- Assist students (class 11th & 12th) to prepare for competitive exams.
