Two CMS Schools win Wipro Earthian Award

City Montessori School, Gomtinagar Extension & Kanpur Road Campuses bagged the prestigious national level Wipro Earthian Award. Both the campuses will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000/- each for their sustainability education program for the year 2020-2021. It is also noteworthy to mention that CMS Kanpur Road Campus is the only school to have won this award a record number of six times while CMS Gomtinagar Extension campus has won the award for the first time.

Earthian is an annual sustainability education program of the Wipro foundation. The school teams were to work on any of the three themes of the program (Sustainability &Water, Sustainability & Biodiversity and Sustainability &Waste). Twenty top schools across India were announced national level winners after the final round. Each winning school will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000/- in an online ceremony to be held on 13th February 2021.

CMS Gomti Nagar Extension team led by their Geography teacher, Mrs. Kavita Shahi, worked on the theme, ‘Sustainability & Water’ while Geography teacher Dr (Mrs) Shiksha Tripathi led the CMS Kanpur Road campus team which chose ‘Sustainability & Waste’ and carried out activities on their selected themes consistently for over 3 months.

Founder Manager of CMS, Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, expressing delight at the success of both the campuses, said, ‘There is hardly any issue more important today than climate and the environment. To engage and enthuse pupils on this topic is such an important part of education for sustainable living.’
