King Hamad Bin Prize 2020

The nominations are open for the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Prize 2020 i.e. UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize 2020 for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Education (2020).

The purpose of the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. The prize is for projects and activities of individuals, institutes, other entities, or non-government organizations. The prize is for excellent models, best practice, and creative use of ICTs to enhance learning, teaching, and overall educational performance.

This year’s theme is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the continuity and quality of learning. The nomination can only be made in English or French language.

An international Jury will select the two best projects from the nominees. They will receive the following during a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

  • US$ 25,000,
  • a medal, and a
  • diploma

The International Jury consists of 5 independent members who are recognized figures in the field of ICTs in education. The jury is only appointed for a period of two years by the Director-General.

Important timelines: –

  • September 2020: Launch of the call for nominations
  • 18 December 2020: Deadline for submissions
  • January 2021: International jury meeting
  • April 2021: Award ceremony
