Do you know what is a sundial?
The sundial is the oldest tool or an instrument for telling the time. As per the historians, the first sundial was made by the Egyptians. Normally a sundial consists of a circular plate called a dial plate with a stick or a pole in the center. The dial plate has markings to show the time of the day. As the sun moves across the sky, the stick or pole casts a shadow on the markings to show the time of the day.
The world’s largest sundial is in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The sundial was built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II – the founder of Jaipur city.
