
World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has announced the WMO 2021 Calendar Competition, where they are looking forward to high-quality and artistic photographs, and especially those which illustrate the theme of World Meteorological Day 2021, “The Ocean, our climate and weather.”
Winning entries will be featured in the WMO 2021 online calendar. The entries shall also be showcased on the WMO official website and social media platforms, eventually are featured in World Meteorological Day 2021 celebrations.
According to WMP, they will also promote them among other U.N. agencies and showcase them during the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development to be held from 2021-2030
The participant is required to fill out the mandatory online ENTRY FORM and attach their photo and submit via a dedicated page on the WMO website. Participants should not forget a short explanatory caption and location for the image. Candidates are requested to provide their social media handles.
How to enter the WMO 2021 Calendar Competition:
The candidates are required to take a striking photo that is related to the Ocean, the weather and climate and meets the guidelines. Candidates may submit multiple entries, however, only 1 photo shall be included in the final calendar. Click here to visit the registration page.
Guidelines for submission:
- Photos to be a minimum size of 4000×3000 pixels.
- Photos to be submitted in JPEG or TIFF format.
- Photos to be in landscape (horizontal) format.
- Both Coloured and Black and white photographs will be accepted.
- Photos to be clearly captioned, including a title, a location, and the date of the photograph.
- No cash prize to be offered to winners of the photo contest.
- Competition is open to all individuals and groups, regardless of age or location.
- Entrants below 18 years of age may participate however permission of their parents or legal guardians is required. If the photo of an entrant below 18 years of age is selected, and written permission/consent of parent or guardian cannot be provided, WMO has the right to reject the entry.
Deadline for the competition:
The last date for entry is 15 September 2020, whereas the results will be announced by 16 October 2020.
