
World Population Day is observed annually on July 11th to focus on the importance of population issues. It was established in 1989 by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme — UNDP and was inspired as a result of the massive interest people had in Five Billion Day in 1987.
World Population Day aim is to highlight the problems and issues that come with a growing global population. The population is becoming a growing issue for all the countries, as the world resources are depleting at an unsustainable rate.
