UNESCO is celebrating the World Teachers Day 2020 with a week-long series of virtual events, which started on 5th October while the closing ceremony will be celebrated on 12 October. World Teachers Day is celebrated every year on 5th October.
The Opening Ceremony included the awarding of the 6th UNESCO Hamdan Prize for the Effectiveness of Teachers.
The whole week is featuring a sequence of virtual national, regional, and global events to celebrate this year’s theme which is Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future.
The virtual sessions which are being organized due to COVID19 have given an opportunity to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, take stock of achievements, and draw attention to the voices of teachers, who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target of leaving no one behind.
