World Water Day 2021: Valuing Water

Tomorrow we are going to celebrate World Water Day, held on 22 March every year. The world has been commemorating the day since 1993 to focus on the importance of water, without which no living organism will survive.

This day celebrates the importance of water in our life and raises awareness. It also reminds us that there are billions of people living without access to safe water.

It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

Every year the day is honored by a different theme and this year’s theme is ‘Valuing water’. We would request our readers to know more about this day and the fascinating facts given on the United Nations website.

So, what we can do?

We should take all the steps to conserver water as much as possible. Schools can organize online events to spread awareness about World Water Day or Water Conservation. Students should look around and see how we can conserve and spread awareness.

The Govt. of India is also launching the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain. The Honorable Prime Minter also tweeted on the Social Platform about it. It will be launched as a Jan Andolan to take water conservation at the grass-roots level through people’s participation
